Recently, our 2007 Chardonnay VQA Icewine was awarded the GOLD medal at the 2008 Vino Challenge, the oldest international wine competition in the United States, where we took Best of North & Latin America and Best Dessert Wine of North & Latin America. We are delighted to be recognized by our peers as a producer of some of the finest Icewines and Late Harvest wines made in Canada.
Canada is the world's premier producer of Icewines. Grapes ripened in the heat of summer are left on the vines until the frigid Canadian winter. When the grapes naturally freeze on the vines at temperatures below -8º C they are picked by hand and pressed to obtain the rare golden juice which is then skillfully vinted to produce exceptional dessert wines. The popularity of Icewine is increasing exponentially as wine consumers worldwide awaken to the magnificence of Icewine and Late Harvest Wines as a unique sensory experience.
Late Harvest Wines are produced from grapes ripened under the hot summer sun and left on the vine after the regular harvest to allow their sweetness and varietal flavors to continue to intensify. They are hand-picked as the Canadian autumn settles over the Okanagan Valley. The nectar is then skillfully vinted to produce our exceptional Late Harvest Wines. Late Harvest Wines contain lower concentrations of sugars and acids than Icewine.
Our Late Harvest Wines are approximately half the price of our Icewines, offering an economical alternative, as well as an excellent introduction to Dessert Wines.
